In "Men in Black II," the sequel to the original sci-fi comedy, Agent J (Will Smith) is now a seasoned member of the secret government agency tasked with monitoring extraterrestrial activity on Earth. However, when a new threat arises in the form of Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle), a shapeshifting Kylothian who arrives on Earth in search of an all-powerful artifact, Agent J is forced to reunite with his former partner, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones).

Having had his memory wiped at the end of the first film, Agent K is living a normal life in a small town post office. Agent J must restore K's memories, and the duo once again don their black suits to save the planet from impending doom.
